My first review ever, yay! Unfortunately it's a bad one, boo.
I have gone back and forth between different types of deodorant: spray, gel, roll-on, and the normal stick. About a month ago I picked up a brand new product, Dove dry spray deodorant. I was so excited because it smelled good and seemed easy to use. I was also really interested because it claims that it will last for 48 hours, so I thought it must be pretty strong! I would obviously still put it on every day, though. Here is a picture of the one I picked up, revive:
One of the first things I noticed when I got home was that the button was really hard to push. I figured out that I could use my thumbs to push it down alright. I was just surprised because I've played in sports my whole life, and I had trouble with the button. I don't even know if somebody that hasn't built some muscle in their hands and fingers could push the button down all of the way. Other than that, it seemed perfect! I loved the smell so much and was pleased with the fact that I didn't have to feel any nasty gel stuff on me. It was also super quick and simple, once I got the technique down. Unfortunately, the day didn't end as well as it started. I got home and was very upset once I smelled my underarms. The deodorant was terrible; it did NOT do the job right! I was very surprised that I had horrific body odor, but I hadn't even sweat or been very active that day. I had to shower right away. I've been using it for a couple of weeks and have had the same exact experience every day. I haven't had the time to run to the store, so I started using my husband's extra deodorant a couple of days ago. People look at me funny because I smell like a man, but I'd rather smell like a guy than nasty BO. This is what I got out of my time using this product...
Pros
- Wonderful smell
- Cute design
- Hard to push button
- Doesn't prevent or mask body odor
- False advertisement - definitely doesn't last near 48 hours and I put on a lot
Overall, I would not recommend this product to anybody. I could understand me smelling at the end of a sweaty or busy day, but I had done almost nothing but lay around (and shop online for bath products) all day. I feel like Dove could have a great product; they just need to make a couple of changes to their formula and test out their product a little more next time before they put it on the shelves. At the moment, it simply is not worth the price and smelliness at the end of the day.
